YWCA Miami is on a mission to build women with: Greater Self-Determination, Increased Skill and Income Level, and Residential Stability. The YWCA takes a holistic approach to individualized well-being: addressing issues of self-esteem and confidence in decision-making, providing full utilization of facilities during critical need hours and offering participants the opportunity to own their professional and personal growth. 

                                                                                                                        

Women perform 66 percent of the world’s work, and produce 50 percent of the food, yet earn only 10 percent of the income and own 1 percent of the property.

Core Programs:

Youth Workforce Development: 
To meet the immediate need of youth in the Overtown community, our workforce development program focuses on year round access to college and career readiness as well as personal finance

Economic Empowerment Program:

To increase knowledge of financial literacy and economic “pitfalls” to include predatory lending as well as enhance income level through saving mechanisms.                                                                  

Financial Literacy Speaker Series

12 monthly seminars focused on economic empowerment for women with topics such as Budgeting, How to stretch your money so you can work to play, and Living in a multi-generational family.

Youth Finance

An introduction for youth on the basics of personal finance including budgeting, saving, credit, loans and salary versus hourly wages.
