Ana Carolina Corrales
President
Bio: Ana Carolina Corrales is Senior Associate Professor of Economics at Miami Dade College, where she has been teaching since 2005. She was appointed to the City of Miami Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee on Economic Initiatives in 2010. Ana is a founding member of Femfessionals®, a global networking organization for professional women, and serves on its Corporate Board of Advisors. She is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Miami®, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s leadership development program for young professionals. In 2014, Professor Corrales was honored with the School of Business Endowed Teaching Chair, the most prestigious distinction for faculty at MDC. Most recently, she was selected as a 2015 Fellow in New Leaders Council Miami.



Carmelita Concepcion
Vice President
Bio: Carmelita’s insurance career began over 20 years ago. She has worked in both Personal and Commercial Lines, but her industry-niche specializations are in Construction, Commercial Real Estate and Hospitality-related risks since she focused on Commercial Insurance in 2000 with Brown & Brown Insurance HBA Division.
During the real estate boom that took place a few years ago, South Florida needed a reputable agency with the ability to step up to the plate in terms of service and commercial insurance knowledge. Carmelita has grown to become a well-known player in placing these types of accounts competitively and creatively. At this time, Carmelita was working as a Marketing Representative for Brown & Brown Insurance HBA Division in South Florida and was instrumental in binding over 12 million dollars in premium in one year. With the growth and expansion of the agency, Carmelita’s skills and abilities led her to pursue outside sales where she could share her knowledge of the ever-changing trends and advances in commercial insurance directly with business owners and upper management of thriving businesses.
In 2010 Carmelita joined MDW Insurance Group in addition to her executive roll leads the Commercial Lines division practice.
Carmelita is well-respected among insurers and brokers and offers a unique perspective for insured’s on the “insiders” marketing perspective. With Marketing and Sales experience it is an unstoppable force of insurance knowledge and commitment to the highest level of customer service.
 

 

Elena Adames
Bio:  Ms. Adames has more than 15 years' experience in affordable housing and real estate development. Ms. Adames has managed the day-to-day construction operations of approximately 20 affordable housing developments (both new construction and rehab) containing approximately 4,000 apartment units. She has worked on all aspects of financing of various developments including financing of approximately 3,500 apartments units with total development costs in excess of $300 Million Dollars. She has managed the overall coordination and preparation of the financing applications resulting in an award of over $100 Million Dollars of subsidy to finance affordable housing developments.Ms. Adames is born and raised in Miami, FL. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from Florida International University, Miami, Florida.


Melissa Fleita
Bio: Melissa Fleitas provides accounting, auditing and consulting services to a wide range of companies in the healthcare and manufacturing and distribution sectors.Fleitas has more than 12 years of experience providing accounting and consulting services for the healthcare industry. She has developed a special expertise in spotting weaknesses of internal controls. Clients in a variety of industries appreciate and adopt her recommendations for increasing the effective-ness of internal controls.

Caroline Iovino
Bio: Caroline M. Iovino focuses her practice on product liability defense, class action, mass tort, and complex civil litigation.  Caroline has represented large product manufacturers against product liability and toxic tort lawsuits, including automotive manufacturers, asbestos, tobacco, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. She has also defended insurance carriers with coverage disputes, death and disability, property and casualty, professional liability, auto negligence, premises liability, negligent security and construction.
Caroline is a frequent speaker at various legal association functions, particularly on issues surrounding trial technique and evidence issues. She was previously a featured speaker at the Florida Bar Annual “Topics in Evidence” CLE. Caroline is a National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) faculty member, featured in NITA seminars in various US cities.

 

Cristina Martinho
Bio:   Cristina joined the YWCA in 2014 as a member of the board. She is a recognized marketing expert known for building successful global beauty brands and has held several marketing roles working for L’Oreal, Coty and Bristol Myers Squibb. She has successfully launched and built brands in the United States as well as established distribution of several beauty brands in Latin America. Cristina has had a lifelong passion for volunteerism and prior to the YWCA she served as an ongoing member of New York Cares. She has a Bachelors degree in Marketing and International Business from Northeastern University, a Digital Marketing Degree from NYU and is in the process of completing her MBA at Florida International University. She is a newcomer to Miami and is enjoying exploring the unique and growing city culture.

 


Nichole Scott
Bio:  Nichole D. Scott is a partner in Holland & Knight's Miami office and is a member of the firm's Private Wealth Services Group. Ms. Scott develops and implements various structures for the transfer of wealth from one generation to the next and works with families to ensure that their wealth is preserved for as long as possible.Ms. Scott is experienced in drafting complex trusts, wills and other estate planning instruments as well as in administering trusts and estates both during the life of the settlor and upon the death of the settlor/decedent. Further, Ms. Scott is experienced in protecting the rights of settlors and beneficiaries through trust and estate litigation. In addition to estate planning and estate litigation, Ms. Scott is also experienced in asset protection planning, including premarital and postmarital planning and the creation of asset protection trusts. Ms. Scott has been an adjunct professor at the University of Miami in the LL.M. Tax program since Fall 2008.
