Court Care

A Better Place Court Care provides a safe, nurturing environment during difficult legal proceedings. Going into the courtroom is never easy, for children, it can be a traumatic and damaging experience. A Better Place is a refuge for children and peace of mind for parents as they navigate the legal system.

In a survey conducted by a similar court care program found that 99.84% of parents felt their child was safe and well cared for during his/her time at Court Care. Additionally, 97.96% of parents believed having their child at Court Care allowed them to conduct their business with fewer distractions.

A Better Place Court Care is staffed with trained and certified personnel who provide for a secure, supportive, and nurturing environment where the children can learn and play while parties attend to court business in the Domestic Violence, Criminal Division and Family Divisions, located in the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building and Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center.

Court Care has been made possible through generous contributions of the YWCA, Miami-Dade County, and the Administrative Office of the Courts of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit..
